Devin Haney has proved himself to be one of the 21st century’s greatest boxers as he still maintains an undefeated record.
As the youngest undisputed world champion, Haney currently has a record of 32-0 and is seeking to become a three-division champion in his next outing.
Haney has already defeated some of the top talents at both lightweight and super lightweight, with elite names on his resume.
One of his former opponents returned to action on Saturday night, but was faced with some unsportsmanlike behavior in the ring.
On Saturday night, former world champion Regis Prograis returned to the ring for the first time since October 2024, facing Joseph ‘Jo Jo’ Diaz.
The fighter was looking for his first win since losing to Haney in 2023, as he was also defeated by Jack Catterall in his last outing.
Prograis and Diaz competed in a super lightweight affair in Chicago, where the bout included a significant amount of controversy.
In round four of the bout, it appeared as if the 34-7-1 Diaz had scored a knockdown before delivering another blow to Prograis on the canvas.
Despite hitting a downed opponent being an illegal move in boxing, no disqualification or points deduction were delivered. The moment that saw Prograis hit the canvas was ruled a slip and the action resumed without further interference.

Fans, however, were not accepting of the blow going unpunished. One user wrote, “Should be disqualified,” while another added, “How is that not, at the very least, a point deduction?”
Other comments included, “Disqualify him. This isn’t MMA or WWE,” and “He can’t even complain if the ref had disqualified him there.”
Despite the blow or lack of point deduction, Prograis was able to return to the win column via a unanimous decision. His record improved to 30-3 with the victory.
Following his first victory in over two years, Prograis is eager to once again face the top names of the division.
In a post-fight interview with Boxing n BBQ, Prograis was asked if he wanted a rematch with Haney or a meeting with Ryan Garcia, to which the fighter replied, “Yeah, for sure.”
Prograis added, “I think after this, I have a whole lot of options right now. Either I can stay at 140 lbs and try and chase a belt, or, go up to 147, maybe 144 to go fight Ryan.”

However, Haney shot down the idea of a rematch with his former opponent. Posting on X, Haney said, “NO” in response to the aforementioned interview.
