The final presser for the Josh Taylor vs. Jack Catterall rematch occurred before their fight on May 25.

The rematch has been long in the making ever since Taylor won their 2022 clash. The Scot won a split decision, which angered the boxing community. The consensus was that Catterall had outboxed Taylor to become the Undisputed Junior Welterweight Champion. Catterall tried to secure the rematch, only to face several hurdles. Taylor would vacate all his belts except for the WBO.

The rematch was agreed for last year. However, Taylor withdrew with a foot injury. After recovering, Taylor then decided to pursue Teofimo Lopez. He lost his WBO Belt via a unanimous decision. In between that, Catterall was keeping busy. He secured victories against Darragh Foley and Jorge Linares. The rematch with Taylor was finalized for April 27. But once again, it was postponed following Taylor’s eye injury.

Pre-Fight Comments

”I think we’re both focused on the job. For me, it’s personal with Josh. It’s a fight that I believe I won. I’m excited to put that right. I still have goals and aspirations of becoming a world champion, but one step at a time. We’ve got a big fight on Saturday and that’s all I’m focused on,” Catterall

All the hard work’s done, all the training’s done. I’m not going to get any stronger. I’m not going to be change anything now in camp so yeah it’s all done, fight week just another fight and yeah can’t can’t wait,” Taylor

“No better time, coming off the back of a brilliant event in Saudi [Arabia] and then wedged between that and the 5 vs. 5, is probably the biggest British fight of the year. Well, it is the biggest British fight of the year. We know the rivalry is bitter, fight week is going to be incredible. I think we’re going to get a great fight as well,” Eddie Hearn

“I watched the head-to-head they did together and they both said they don’t hate each other. Not necessarily that they like each other but they don’t hate each other. I don’t know if I believe that, I think both of them probably do hate each other a little. You know what this game’s like, it’s very personal. It’s two men fighting at the end of the day. Potentially, after this fight and depending on what goes on, maybe their dislike for each other will dilute a wee bit,” Carl Frampton
