Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall faced off at the weigh-in for their fight on Saturday, with both boxers making the 140-pound limit.

The junior welterweight clash will see both boxers fight each other again following their 2022 clash. Taylor won the first fight in front of his home crowd in a contentious split decision. The consensus was that Taylor had lost the fight. Catterall was prevented from becoming the Undisputed Junior Welterweight Champion.

The rematch was called off on two occasions. It was first agreed for last year after Taylor vacated his belts except for the WBO. However, the Scot injured his foot. Rather than box Catterall after his return, he faced Teofimo Lopez, losing the WBO strap.

The fight was scheduled for April 27, but Taylor pulled out with an eye injury. Now, it is set for this weekend with plenty on the line. Taylor wants to silence his doubters with a decisive win. He could then chase a title fight at 140 or move up to 147. Catterall aims to win his first world title. A win over Taylor will boost those chances and enhance his resume.

Pre-Fight Comments

“We have changed a few things. We’ve seen him now. We’ve studied him and, for one, I know I’ve got a big threat in front of me this time. I’m taking it seriously this time….I don’t really care how I win this fight, whether it’s by points or stoppage. The way I’ve been performing in the gym and the shots I’ve been throwing and catching people with, if I catch him with those shots, it’ll be over. It’ll be devastating for him. We’ll see what happens, but it’s a win for me,” Taylor said

“I believe I’ve got the power to hurt Josh. I believe I do everything better than him. Maybe I’ve not had the right opponents or the fights that have shown me 100 percent, but I’ve had it in the past, maybe boxed 10 domestic opponents from Tom Stalker, Joe Hughes, Tyrone McKenna. Every one of them said they’d watched the tapes and they can beat me, but it’s different when you’re in the ring, you’ve got eight-ounce gloves on and [are facing] my timing, my distance, my defense. And I believe I can beat them all,” Catterall stated
