Early Rounds (1–2)
Al Maayouf started fast as the aggressor, pumping sharp jabs and landing clean rights. He dropped Castillo late in Round 1, briefly seizing control of the fight. Castillo responded in Round 2 by raising the pressure and forcing exchanges. While Al Maayouf found success countering off the back foot, the pace began to shift as Castillo committed to volume and forward movement.

Mid Rounds (3–5)
Castillo’s persistence paid off in the middle rounds. Despite a cut over his left eye, he continued to press and throw combinations, steadily breaking Al Maayouf’s rhythm. Rounds 3 and 4 were close, but Castillo’s pressure and work rate began to show on Al Maayouf’s face. Al Maayouf answered in Round 5 with a brief second wind, landing cleaner shots and momentarily slowing the momentum.

Late Rounds (6–8)
Castillo took control down the stretch. In Round 6, he consistently found a home for his right hand and did the more visible damage. Round 7 saw Castillo walking Al Maayouf down and hurting him as the pressure intensified. The final round was an all-action exchange, with both fighters trading, but Castillo bit down and unloaded heavier shots while Al Maayouf’s offense faded. Castillo closed strong and did enough over the final rounds to secure the decision.
