Following his historic win over Canelo Alvarez on Saturday, Terence Crawford has already had his next opponent picked out by Turki Alalshikh.

On Saturday night, Terence Crawford took on Canelo Alvarez in one of the biggest boxing fights of the decade when they clashed for the undisputed super middleweight title.

Despite going into the fight as a sizable underdog because of the fact he was moving up several weight classes to take on the Mexican, Crawford went on to score a blockbuster unanimous decision win to become the new champion.

And just a day removed from the fight, the massive gate figure was confirmed, which saw the event enter the top three for the biggest gates of all time.

Crawford’s next fight already suggested by Turki Alalshikh

Coming into the huge fight, it seemed to be a possibility that both Canelo and Crawford could end up retiring with Canelo being 35-years-old and the American now 37-years-old.

And following the biggest win of his career thus far, ‘Bud’ was asked whether he will now retire from boxing, and he admitted that he will sit down with his team and discuss the possibility.

Despite that, the consensus saviour of boxing and the co-owner of TKO boxing, Turki Alalshikh has potentially already lined up Crawford’s next fight, just hours after his historic win.

“Can David Benavidez still make 168lbs?” Turki asked in a post on X.

David Benavidez last fought at super middleweight in 2023 when he retained the WBC interim super middleweight title against Demetrius Andrade.

Following the fight, Benavidez called for a super fight against Canelo but unfortunately, the fight never came and ‘El Bandera Roja’ opted to move up to light heavyweight where he has since become a champion.

Fans react to Turki’s suggestion of Crawford vs Benavidez

Although it may seem unlikely at this point that Benavidez will move back down to 168lbs, if anyone can make the fight happen it is Alalshikh.

“Turki is really like us… a real boxing fan but with billions of dollars to make dream fights happen,” one fan reacted.

“That’s a great fight to continue the hype train. Bud would definitely beat Benavidez at 168lbs. He even has a shot to beat him at 175lbs,” a second fan claimed.

“Turki, here is the plan. Crawford picks up a title at 160lbs. Then make the fight with (Dmitry) Bivol or whoever is current title holder at 175lbs. This would make Crawford only the 2nd seven weight world champion in the history of the sport and elevating into legitimate GOAT status,” another fan suggested.

At this point, Crawford’s next fight all depends on whether he wants to carry on fighting in the sport or if he feels as though he has already achieved everything there is to achieve in the sport.
