Terence Crawford could pursue a crossover fight, as we look at the options available to him.
Crawford made history by becoming a three-weight undisputed champion after defeating Canelo Alvarez for the Undisputed Super Middleweight Title. Naturally, there are calls for him to retire at the age of 37. Alternatively, a unique fight opportunity could present itself.
Despite his recent boxing record, Nate Diaz remains a lucrative option. Diaz is known for his high-volume, pressure-based boxing, as well as his granite chin. He demonstrated this in his professional boxing debut against Jake Paul, where he went the full 10 rounds, absorbing punishment and landing shots of his own despite losing the decision. A bout with Crawford would be a massive financial payday. Diaz recently called out Crawford.

Ilia Topuria represents a different choice. Topuria has showcased his crisp, powerful boxing in the octagon, most notably in his wins over Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira. From Crawford’s perspective, a win over an in-his-prime, undefeated champion from another sport would be a unique feat. For Topuria, it would be a career-defining moment and an opportunity for a massive payday. However, Crawford has ruled that bout out.
“What money would I get out of fighting him? Please, he’s not nowhere near on the level of Conor McGregor. Don’t ever compare him to Conor. Conor was [high], and he’s [low]. I’ve never seen this guy fight, and I watch a lot of MMA, maybe I’m slipping. Maybe he’s a good fighter, keep up the good work in his career and I wish him the best,” Crawford said
The most financially appealing crossover opponent for Crawford is arguably Jake Paul. For Paul, it’s the ultimate test—a chance to prove his legitimacy by facing one of the greatest technical boxers of all time. For Crawford, it’s a golden opportunity to earn an astronomical sum of money with minimal risk. The Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson event, for instance, showed the financial reward, with reports Jake earned $40 million.
Another highly lucrative option for Crawford would be to face MMA superstar Conor McGregor. The precedent for this has already been set by Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s record-breaking fight against McGregor. The bout sold over 4 million PPVs. And with McGregor still expressing his desire to fight again, this is one to watch.
