Terri Harper boxes Natalie Zimmermann on May 23 as we look at how the fight could play out.

Harper defends her WBO Lightweight Title for the first after she beat Rhiannon Dixon in a unanimous decision to secure the belt. It ended her poor run of form with only one win in three bouts. A majority draw against Cecilia Braekhus, followed by a loss to Sandy Ryan, raised worries over her hopes of a future title. Now, she is a win away from potentially unifying against WBC Lightweight Champion Caroline Dubois.

Zimmermann is undefeated with a 13-0 record. She is coming off wins against Orsolya Moldovan and Katerina Dvorakova in 2024, which gave her the title shot. She is not the biggest puncher, with only three KOs as we examine how the pair will approach this fight.

Insights

Harper uses her right hand behind a tight guard to push her opponents back. Zimmermann has a tendency to lower her guard, which may offer Harper an opening. However, Zimmermann uses her lateral movement well to close the gap on the inside. The champion is capable of landing numerous combinations after the right hand, which Zimmermann will have to be wary of.

However, Zimmermann has never been defeated, which will give her confidence in fighting in Harper’s backyard. Harper has more experience at the top level, having been in the ring with the likes of Sandy Ryan, Cecilia Braekhus and Alycia Baumgardner. Harper and Zimmermann fancied their chances of coming out on top.
