Frank Warren is an English boxing manager, promoter and the founder of Queensberry Promotions. He has promoted and managed world champions like Tyson Fury, Nigel Benn, Steve Collins and Chris Eubank among others.

On Saturday, Nick Ball clashed with T J Doheny, he won the fight and retained his WBA featherweight title at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, England. Frank Warren shared his thoughts about the fight with The Ring’s Loius Hart.

Hart: “Loius for the Ring Magazine delighted to be joined with Frank Warren, we’ve just seen Nick Ball get stoppage victory over TJ Doheny here in Liverpool, you know real back and forth fight. I thought the obvious excessive starts!”

Frank: “He’s a competitor, TJ he comes to fight a fighting man, he’s a former world champion and he fancied the fighting as you could see and he has done the best he could. He was in with the best featherweight in the world!”

Hart: “It feels like that we saw a different Nick here, really this fight with TJ is someone that’s going to try and push his buttons especially in the build-up. I saw Dan peep into the ring and Paul Stevenson…”

Frank: “Education for him and he came through it well and what I liked about it, is the way he went about his business. He broke him down over the rounds and once he started hitting into the … he was giving him a lot of problems.”

Hart: “Talking on the topic of tensions, I do have to ask you about the end of the first round. Obviously a clash between but a kick on a knee from Nick…just me myself flicking through Twitter, a lot of people calling it a stone wall disqualification sort of about holding him…”

Frank: “Holding him around the neck and he weren’t letting go of him and that’s what happened. He tried retaliating but it was after the bell. So it did affect the fight!”

Hart: “Do you understand people’s complaints through saying like it’s been favorable to an aide…”

Frank: “To being favorable to?”

Hart: “To the home fight. I’ll ask you about the undercard as well at Baluta, a very close fight, a very close fight!”

Frank: “Obviously Baluta get I thought Brad would not win it and it wasn’t a knockdown.

Hart: “I wanted to ask you about that obviously the incorrect call from Marcus Mc Donald which was pivotal in the end well.”

Frank: “That was the end of the…if they were at knockdown, then he won the fight.”

Hart: “Is there time to call potential video replays for decisions like that?”

Frank: “I’ve been quite…not been too much favor of that because it stops the momentum and so forth, but you know you need the referee to get it right. I mean we could all see it on the ringside. I haven’t known one person disagree with the fact that you know he was standing on his toe. You only got to look at the pump, they were like little, not big punches and he slipped and then he gets that count and it was just the most ridiculous thing.” TJ is an Irish professional boxer, despite his latest loss, he’s known for his exceptional power and possesses a knockout ratio of 76%.
