Tim Tszyu Is Ready For Vengeance!

On July 19, at the iconic MGM Grand, Tim Tszyu will get his chance at redemption in a rematch against WBC junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora. Their first meeting was nothing short of a bloody thriller that Fundora narrowly won via split decision. But the story wasn’t just about who got the nod. It was about the grit and heart both fighters showed in the face of adversity.

Tszyu (25-2, 18 KOs) suffered a deep cut across his hairline in the third round, forcing him to fight through a torrent of blood and blurred vision for the remainder of the bout. Despite the handicap, he pressed forward, dishing out punishment of his own and cutting Fundora (22-1-1, 14 KOs) in a savage back and forth battle.

Fight smarter

“Fighting against Fundora can’t be technical,” Tszyu said. “We both like to press and bring the action. It’s a bit hard to stay in distance and take your time. He’s tall, you have to make it a fight. Anyone who fights him is in for a hard night at the office.

Hoping to avoid another cut, Tszyu is looking to regain the momentum that he had before their initial fight. He understands that a avenging his loss can springboard him to the trajectory that he was on once before the loss. Tim Tszyu is ready to push himself to the end to regain what he lost.

“He should have killed me when he had the chance. I was ready to die in that ring, and that’s what kept me going. The hardest part was I lost my mind during the fight. From rounds three to nine I wasn’t myself, adapted to close the fight, but it was a bit too late.”
