Top middleweight prospect Amari Jones (14-0, 12 KOs) has officially signed with Golden Boy Promotions.

An official announcement is scheduled for Friday, but Jones was in attendance for the Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. press conference when news of the signing began to circulate the room. Jones was under the umbrella of Devin Haney Promotions shortly after turning pro in 2021. Now Jones is with Golden Boy, and the future looks bright for the 23-year-old middleweight from Oakland, CA.

At the Paul-Chavez Jr. press conference event, Jones spoke to FightsATW and had this to say about signing with Golden Boy.

“Going through the process of looking for a manager and promoter, Oscar (De La Hoya) and Eric (Gomez) presented the best deal to me,” said Jones. “It made the most sense for me. This is where I felt like it was a home for me, and it will catapult me into becoming a world champion.

“As of right now, I don’t have a set date. Now that I am with a promoter, I look to fight within the next few months. You are going to see me more often.”

Jones would go on to say that he feels as though he’s shaping into becoming a real contender, and after a few fights with Golden Boy, he’ll seek a world title fight at 160.

This is a good signing for Golden Boy, as the middleweight division is currently thin on talent, and someone like Jones could bring the spark that it is definitely missing. Jones had a quick message to the fans who will now have the opportunity to see him fight, now that he is with Golden Boy. “I’m here to stay and let you guys know that I’m the truth.”
