The boxing world is mourning the loss of 75-year-old Joe Bugner, who passed away at 75 after a battle with dementia.

A child refugee who fled the Soviet invasion of Hungary in 1956, Bugner built an impressive professional record of 69-13-1, with 43 of his victories coming by knockout. He twice captured the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles and was a three-time European champion.

Bugner’s career saw him lose decisions against Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, as he would retire in 1987 after a loss to Frank Bruno. However, financial difficulties prompted a comeback, as he secured the World Boxing Federation belt at the age of 48. He retired in 1999, leaving behind a big legacy.
