Riyadh Season, led by His Excellency Turki Alalshikh have transformed boxing and brought us many fights we could only dream of including two undisputed fights between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk and Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Bterbiev. They are continuing to try and make the best possible fights and the loaded card for Feb. 22 proves that. No one involved is seemingly resting on their achievements, with Alalshikh revealing on the DAZN’s Ariel and Ade: The Boxing Show that he already has one eye on a March Riyadh Season card.
The rumoured loaded Riyadh Season card for February 22 has now been confirmed with four full world title bouts and three fights for interim titles. Speaking on DAZN’s Ariel and Ade boxing show, His Excellency spoke about the strength of the card on Feb. 22 but revealed he wanted more: “I wanted more fights on this card, but I have had to take two fights off.”
He continued: “I had Frank [Warren, Queensbury promoter] and Eddie [Hearn, Matchroom promoter] call me one hundred times, saying ‘what is this card, do you want it to last for 16 hours?’ So I said ‘okay, cancel the last two fights and we will push them to March’.”
The February card is looking like one of the most memorable boxing cards since the legendary Don King shows. Riyadh has hosted many memorable events, but the proposed March card looks set to be outside of Saudi Arabia due to Ramadan: “With March being Ramadan in my country, you can conclude this fight night will not happen in my country. But we will still try to have a big fight card outside of my country in March,” said Alalshikh.
He added: “I will reveal details as soon we have confirmed everything.”
Stay with Big Fight Weekend for the full build-up to the loaded card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on February 22.
