Tyson Fury snubs Anthony Joshua fight in 2026 return as promoter reveals targeted clash

Despite fans clamoring for an overdue pairing of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, it seems the Morecambe star’s mind is elsewhere.

Expected to snap his most recent retirement — the fifth of his career — in a return to the ring next year, former WBC heavyweight titleholder Tyson Fury has been tied to an anticipated clash with Anthony Joshua.

However, the British star is remaining non-committal to the pairing, according to his long-time promoter.

And as such, the former world champion star is constantly playing up a particular rematch in his immediate return to the ring over a pairing with Joshua.

Tyson Fury ‘wants’ Oleksandr Usyk fight in boxing return

Twice sharing the ring with current undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, it seems Fury is not giving up the ghost just yet on a trilogy clash with the Ukrainian.

Suffering his first of two career losses to the unbeaten star as part of a championship doubleheader last year, Fury found himself on the wrong side of two decision losses — the first of which almost saw Fury stopped with a brutal knockout.

But as far as his long-time promoter Frank Warren is concerned, Fury only has eyes for another go at Usyk, even over a showdown with fellow British icon Joshua.

“The fight he really wants is another go with Mr. Usyk; he really wants that,” Warren told Sky Sports. “And they were great fights, really close fights, to watch. I’d watch that again. That’s the fight he wants. That’s the one he talks about all the time.

“He hasn’t got a lot of miles on the clock. He’s nobody’s fool, he’s a very smart guy, he knows better than you and me what he’s got left,” Warren explained. “He’s a fighting man, and if he decides that he’s going to move forward and do it, he’ll do it. He’s not a stupid guy who’s clutching at straws.

Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight may be doomed

On a collision course ever since their emergence in the sport in the 2010s, Fury and Joshua have been linked with an overdue all-British showdown for years.

Seemingly en route to a massive blockbuster as recently as five years ago, Joshua and Fury failed to ever settle their differences despite efforts.

And with time quickly passing by in their respective careers, Joshua’s team is far from certain if a clash with Fury will actually ever take place.
