British fight fans might finally be getting the heavyweight showdown they’ve been dreaming about for a decade. Saudi powerbroker Turki Alalshikh has hinted that a blockbuster clash between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is being lined up for London in September 2026, calling it “one of the greatest fights in the history of boxing.” Speaking on the DAZN broadcast before Conor Benn’s win over Chris Eubank Jr. on Saturday night, Alalshikh laid out a rough roadmap for a massive year of events in the UK.

“I am talking now with Eddie, we have next year two big events here in London, it will be a surprise,” Alalshikh said.

“We will have Joshua in our country in February. Then there is the big fight, one of the greatest fights in the history of boxing, it will be in London here maybe in September.

I will not give you the answer, but we will have in April a fight in Tottenham, big fights, then in September we will have a big surprise for the fans in England. ”While Alalshikh stopped short of naming names, the “big fight” is widely believed to be Joshua vs. Fury at last.

Joshua’s Road Back

Former two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua hasn’t fought since his fifth-round KO loss to Daniel Dubois in September. He’s set to return in December against Jake Paul. As first revealed by The Ring, in what’s expected to be a high-profile, high-scrutiny comeback assignment. Joshua still has his sights firmly set on the summit of the division. His promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that long-term plans are being built around a huge 2026 campaign.

“Listen, we have all got excited about that fight for many years,” Hearn said. “I believe this is the man to make it happen. Everything we do with Anthony Joshua, we do with Turki Alalshikh. We have been sitting down this week, we have a lot of plans for Anthony Joshua’s future.

He wants to regain the world heavyweight championship, he wants, of course, to fight Tyson Fury. Let the man do his work. I will keep quiet because I have got a big mouth and hopefully we can see the fight that everybody in here wants to see.”

Will Fury Return?

Tyson Fury, the former Ring heavyweight champion, announced his retirement after losing a rematch to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024. Since then, speculation has swirled around whether the “Gypsy King” would ever lace up the gloves again. Now, Alalshikh is seen as the key figure who could tempt Fury back for one last colossal payday and legacy fight on British soil. If the pieces fall into place. 2026 could finally deliver the all-British mega-fight the heavyweight division has been denied for years and it may happen in front of a home crowd in London.
