Oleksandr Usyk is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, again!
The Ukrainian superstar, now 24-0 (15 KOs), reclaimed the IBF belt from Daniel Dubois to add to his WBA, WBC, and WBO belts via a fifth-round TKO, Saturday night on DAZN PPV. Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) succumbed to a ninth-round stoppage nearly two years ago in Wroclaw, Poland. The Englishman did bounce back in style with three knockout wins against Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua.

On a typically English rainy day in London, the weather cleared to host over 83,000 fans at Wembley Stadium for the rematch between Usyk and Dubois. As Usyk walked out to the ring in front of a largely English crowd, it felt as if Usyk could be the home fighter.
Dubois took the center of the ring to open the first round as Usyk bounced off the backfoot. Dubois let loose a right hand after the first minute, which Usyk glanced at and responded with sporadic jabs to the body. Dubois attempted to corner Usyk as the round closed, but Usyk responded, landing a left hook and right jab to the chin.
Round two started largely the same as the opener, but there was a little more intent from Usyk already, with his right jab finding the body of Dubois more regularly. However, Dubois pushed the action halfway through the round, landing his own right hand to the head. As the round finished, the two men traded. Dubois came forward to be met by a smart counter left by the Ukrainian.
Usyk appeared to wobble at the start of the third round from a stiff jab by the Englishman. Dubois’s confidence grew, landing a couple of decent right hands, but Usyk would again land a decisive counter left hand to the chin. Dubois took it well, but Usyk was starting to find a rhythm following a good start to the round from Dubois. Commentator Carl Frampton had scored the round to the Londoner.
The action dipped in the first half of the fourth as Dubois continued to push off the front foot with Usyk working the perimeter. All in all, it was quiet with little to report. Dubois would land a right to the beltline, but unlike the first fight, the referee allowed the shot, and Usyk didn’t go down. It had definitely given the Ukrainian food for thought.
Usyk took the initiative in the fifth, and it proved to be a smart tactic. Dubois attempted to cut off the ring, but Usyk put him on the ground with an unconventional right hand. Usyk capitalised as Dubois strode forward to land a big right, but he stepped off his back foot to land a perfect left to the chin, ending the fight. The official time of the stoppage was 1:52.
“38 is a young guy!” Usyk yelled in the DAZN post-fight interview. Having been goaded by team Dubois that he was getting old in the fight week build-up.
