Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois are reportedly closing in on a deal for a rematch for the Ring Magazine and undisputed heavyweight titles, set for July 12 at Wembley Stadium in London, according to sources from The Ring.
Their first bout took place in Poland in 2023, where Dubois lost under contentious conditions after a body shot that floored Usyk was ruled a low blow, giving the Ukrainian time to recover. Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) regained control and ultimately stopped Dubois, later going on to defeat Tyson Fury twice to claim undisputed status in the heavyweight division.
Usyk's victory crowned him the undisputed heavyweight champion, but his reign was brief as he vacated the IBF title ahead of the rematch with Fury. The IBF, having previously ordered a mandatory defense against Dubois, promoted the Brit from interim to full champion. After defending his remaining three belts in December, the 38-year-old Ukrainian was confronted in the ring by the 27-year-old Dubois, who called for a rematch.
Hailing from London, Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) followed up by securing the most significant victory of his career with a fifth-round knockout of former unified champion Anthony Joshua in September at Wembley. He hasn’t fought since, having withdrawn from a scheduled title defense against Joseph Parker in February due to illness during fight week.
Now, Dubois is poised for redemption, with The Ring reporting that a rematch deal is nearing completion.
“Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois are in the process of finalizing a deal for a Ring Magazine and undisputed heavyweight championship rematch July 12 at London’s Wembley Stadium, sources told The Ring’s Mike Coppinger,” The Ring posted on X.
