Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) recently silenced critics with one of his most iconic victories yet against WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs). While Haney’s title was not in line due to Garcia missing the weight, ‘KingRy’s performance undoubtedly sent waves through the world of boxing. Meanwhile, his antics leading up to the fight have been intriguing, to say the least, and it looks like it was all part of a well thought out masterplan.

Garcia was a guest on the latest episode of the PBD Podcast hosted by Patrick Bet-David. In conversation, David asked him if his behavior leading to the fight was all part of an act. This was when Garcia turned his attention to his crew and mentioned that they had a pre-recorded conversation about planning the entire act. He even revealed that he wanted everyone to think he was going crazy.

“Like I have it all documented. I was already planning you know, weeks and weeks and months behind. I don’t know what made me come up with the idea, honestly. I just, one day, just decided to go all in. Commit to a plan that I had,” he said. “And, I was not gonna budge for nobody. It didn’t matter if I went on his podcast, anybody’s podcast, I was acting like sporadic.”

Garcia also added that he used to regularly wrinkle his nose and act like he was picking scabs to weird people out. However, he confessed that his alcohol was anything but an act. “What’s real though is I used to drink a little during camp because I like to drink,” he said.

“I Walked Through The Fire”

While his antics may have set people off, Garcia mentioned that peoples’ comments have little to no effect on him. “I don’t give a f*ck what people say about me. I walked through the fire and still held it down and still beat f**king Devin Haney and still drink every day,” he said.

On the contrary, Garcia added that he wasn’t particularly proud of his drinking but rather wanted to show that his performance remained unchanged regardless.
