Women’s Boxing Biggest Weekend Ever?

This upcoming Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano trilogy, set to headline an all-women’s boxing card at Madison Square Garden and streamed globally on Netflix, isn’t just another fight it’s a pivotal moment that could redefine the trajectory of women’s boxing.

While all women’s boxing cards have existed as far back as 1979, they’ve remained occasional novelties, not industry norms. Even monumental achievements like Claressa Shields headlining a pay-per-view in 2021. Or Laila Ali’s high-profile bouts in the 2000’s have struggled to create sustained momentum for the sport. But Taylor and Serrano have managed something different: they’ve built a true rivalry, one with global appeal, skill parity, and legacy implications the kind boxing fans rally behind.

With Netflix broadcasting the event live, and Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions leading the charge, this isn’t just a fight night it’s a mainstream play. Jake Paul put it bluntly. “The goal for this all women’s card is to put the world on notice that women’s boxing is just as entertaining as men’s. They have the opportunity to be recognized by audiences outside of the normal boxing crowd and expand the fan base, just like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese did for the WNBA.”

That comparison matters. The WNBA has seen unprecedented attention and cultural relevance thanks to marketable rivalries and next-gen stars. Women’s boxing could follow that same blueprint  if the industry invests and fans tune in.

The support that’s been missing?

Some people credit Jake Paul with saving women’s boxing. With his full support behind the promoting this mega fight. It’s safe to say that this arguably is the biggest weekend ever for women’s boxing. With the added support to make sure that the event will be successful. This could be the beginning of a very strong representation in the sport.
