The dynamic southpaw from Sydney, Australia, captured the then-vacant IBF title in May 2024 with a unanimous decision victory over longtime world champion Mairis Briedis. That win elevated Opetaia from contender to division centerpiece.

Zuffa Boxing Debuts January 23 in Las Vegas

Zuffa Boxing’s inaugural event takes place January 23 at UFC Apex. The main event features junior middleweight contender Callum Walsh (15-0, 11 KOs) against Carlos Ocampo (38-3, 26 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round middleweight bout.

Also on the card:

• Misael Rodriguez (15-0, 7 KOs) vs. Austin Deanda (17-0, 11 KOs) — 10-round middleweight bout

• Julian Rodriguez (24-1, 15 KOs) vs. Cain Sandoval (17-0, 15 KOs) — 10-round welterweight bout

The event begins at 9 p.m. ET and will stream live on Paramount+.
