The Saskatchewan Roughriders have retained most of the 2024 roster that helped first-year head coach Corey Mace take the team to the West Division Final. In 2025, they want a return and even more.
The Riders made one of the most significant moves in the CFL ahead of the official opening of free agency, bringing in former Calgary Stampeders defensive lineman and three-time All-CFLer Mike Rose.
The defensive star was released earlier this week after seven seasons with Calgary, where he has played his entire CFL career. In 2024, Rose played 18 games with the Stamps, recording 19 tackles, six sacks and even a defensive touchdown, earning All-CFL nods.
Rose’s career totals are nothing to scoff at. Through seven CFL seasons, he has accumulated 143 tackles, 36 sacks, two interceptions, one touchdown and three forced fumbles, all while earning All-CFL honors the last three seasons.
Rose will look to impact a tough defense that is aiming to make a Grey Cup run this season. The Riders are heavily favored to make the playoffs following a West Division Final exit in 2024.
The Riders will begin their 2025 campaign and the CFL season at home against the Ottawa Redblacks on June 5.
