Thanks to the Easter holiday, many college teams were off on April 5. However, there was still a good amount of baseball action across the DI landscape. And in fact, the day featured one of the best offensive performances in the circuit this season, courtesy of Cade Arrambide.
There were only two SEC contests on Easter Sunday. One was in Lexington, where the Missouri Tigers defeated Ben Cleaver and Kentucky on April 5. Blaize Ward picked up three hits for Mizzou.
The other was LSU & Tennessee in Knoxville. The Tigers won 16-6 in 12 innings, capped off by a 10-run inning in the top of the 12th. Catcher Cade Arrambide hit a grand slam after Steven Milam drove in what would be the game-winning run. Milam tallied a two-run home run later in the frame.
Getting back to Arrambide, he had one of the best performances in college baseball this season. He tallied five hits and four home runs, all of which came after the fourth inning.
Virginia Tech took a game in Florida against the Miami (FL) Hurricanes. Sam Grube and Ethan Bell each hit home runs for the Hokies, who won 6-3.
Jack Crighton and Clemson defeated Stanford 12-5. Crighton had three hits, one of which was a home run.
Two runs in the ninth inning helped the Pittsburgh Panthers defeat Wake Forest in a 4-3 walk-off victory.
The UCF Knights took the series in Morgantown against West Virginia. Andrew Williamson hit his third home run of the series on April 5, while Cameron Wicker struck out six over seven for UCF.
Oklahoma State defeated Cincinnati 10-4 in Stillwater. TP Wentworth, Colin Brueggemann, and Aidan Meola all hit home runs for the Cowboys.
TCU shut out Kansas State 4-0. Zack James tossed eight scoreless innings, while Cole Cramer picked up three hits for TCU.
UCLA completed a sweep of USC with a 10-4 victory at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Roch Cholowsky, Payton Brennan, and Mulivai Levu each had three hits for the Bruins in the victory.
