A Michigan baseball star has apologized after he was widely criticized for the way he celebrated an extra-base hit during Sunday's game against USC.
Michigan infielder Mitch Voit went 3-for-3 and drove in four runs in the Wolverines' 11-0 win over USC on Sunday. Three of his RBI came on a bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the second inning with Michigan leading 2-0.
After Voit slid into third base, he appeared to incorporate a drug reference into his celebration.

On Monday, Voit issued a statement via social media apologizing for his actions.
"I would like to apologize for my actions on third base yesterday. I made an immature decision in the heat of the moment. The gesture I made does not reflect my character, the household I was raised in, or the block M that I represent in any kind of way. I take full responsibility for what I did, and I am truly sorry to all those who I have negatively impacted by doing this."

Voit is batting .451 through 18 games this season and is one of the best players in college baseball. While his statement seemed like an admission that he did, in fact, do a drug-themed celebration, there has been no indication that he will face disciplinary action.
