Wright will visit Lexington on Monday.
If it comes to fruition, Wright would be joining Mark Pope, the former BYU coach, who just wrapped up his second season in Lexington.
Wright averaged 18.1 points and 4.6 assists per game and shot 41% from three-point range this past season. He showed major improvement from his freshman season at Baylor, when he averaged 11.5 points per game and 4.2 assists per game.
BYU finished the season 23-12 with a first-round loss in the NCAA Tournament, falling as a 6-seed against First Four team Texas. The Cougars’ season came up short of expectations, and it began when star Richie Saunders went down with a season-ending injury.
After huge expectations and spending last off-season, Kentucky did not meet its expectations. They Wildcats went 22-14 and 10-8 in the SEC before getting ousted in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
