Three years ago, Alabama superstar Mark Sears committed to head coach Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide. Three years later, the former All-American is out of eligibility and waiting for the NBA Combine in May and the draft in June.
Since the end of Sears's college career a few weeks ago, the 2025 SEC First-Teamer has been waiting on feedback from an NBA scout. On Friday, On3 dropped a full two-round mock draft.
One name that didn't come up in all 60 picks was Sears.
After his stellar 2023-24 season in which Sears averaged 21.5 points per game on 50.8% shooting and 43.6% from behind the arc, Sears was projected as a borderline first-round draft or second-round lock. But after Sears shooting percentages fell to 40.3% from the field and just 34.5% from 3, the fifth-year senior's stock seems to have dissipated.
Still, during his final season at Alabama, Sears led the program to its first back-to-back appearance in the Elite Eight after the historic Final Four run in 2024.
Although Sears disappointed in the Elite Eight against Duke with just six points on 2-of-12 shooting, the Muscle Shoals, Alabama showed his potential in the Sweet 16 when he dropped 34 points on 10 3-pointers as the Crimson Tide set the NCAA Tournament for most triples in a tournament game.
In the games Alabama faced elite-level defenders against Auburn and Duke, Sears averaged 11 points per game on 23.7% shooting and just four three-pointers.
