Michigan losing would-be star transfer due to admission issue

Guard Caleb Love decided to leave the North Carolina Tar Heels after three great seasons. On April 7th, 2023, he opted to transfer to the Michigan Wolverines.

Love was considered a massive transfer get for U-of-M head coach Juwan Howard and he was expected to be a major contributor to the Wolverines in 2023.

Unfortunately for Michigan, it's being reported that Love has re-opened up his recruitment, which means he won't be transferring to Ann Arbor, after all. According to 247Sports, it's an admission issue that has stopped this dream from becoming a reality for Michigan.

"As first reported by Sam Webb on The Michigan Insider’s VIP message board, an admissions issue will prevent the talented North Carolina transfer from becoming a member of the program," 247Sports wrote on May 17th, 2023, just over a month after Love's commitment.

A former five-star recruit and McDonald's All-American, Love averaged 16.7 points 3.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists for UNC his junior season. As a sophomore in 2021-22, he averaged 15.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists while helping the Tar Heels make it to the National Championship Game.
