Another Kansas Transfer Finds a New Home

Former Kansas guard Noah Shelby has committed to Texas A&M after entering the transfer portal this July, according to The Athletic’s Tobias Bass.

Shelby joins the Aggies immediately following a redshirt year in Lawrence, making this his fourth school in as many seasons

Shelby’s journey has included stops at Vanderbilt, Rice, and, most recently, Kansas, where he walked on and redshirted in 2024–25. He appeared in 44 NCAA games, averaging just under 4 points per game across his collegiate career. Joining Texas A&M reunites Shelby with his AAU teammate Rylan Griffen, another former Jayhawk who transferred earlier this offseason.

His move is part of a significant influx of transfers to College Station. The Aggies have already added 11 portal players for the 2025 season under new coach Bucky McMillan, who took over after Buzz Williams’ departure.

Shelby’s eligibility may hinge on a special transfer window created for Designated Student-Athletes, a provision of the House v. NCAA settlement. That exemption allowed him to move so late in the cycle without counting against scholarship limits.

This signing marks another step in Texas A&M’s offseason rebuild. Under McMillan, the Aggies are aggressively reshaping the roster with portal additions and fresh talent. For Shelby, a guard from McKinney, Texas, this could be the platform he needs to carve out a meaningful role in SEC action.

In joining the SEC, Shelby trades midseason uncertainty for an opportunity to contribute behind the arc, where guard depth remains a need. With McMillan looking to solidify his backcourt depth, Shelby’s experience and AAU chemistry with Griffen offer upside without expectation.
