One of Auburn's top players has reportedly run into some legal trouble this weekend.

According to Myron Medcalf of ESPN.com, Tigers star Tahaad Pettiford was arrested and jailed early Saturday morning for driving under the influence of alcohol in the same county as the school's campus.

Pettiford, a 19-year-old sophomore, projects to be a leading contender for SEC Player of the Year next season after averaging 11.6 points and a team-leading 3.0 assists per game in his first year under Bruce Pearl on the 32-6 Tigers.

The Jersey City native initially declared for the 2025 NBA Draft before choosing to withdraw and return to school a few weeks ago.

"I was happy to go through the process, getting feedback from NBA teams," Pettiford said at the time. "Going back to Auburn is a better situation for me. I see myself being a higher pick next year. It wasn't 100% this year, so I didn't want to take that chance."

Coach Pearl also released a statement on Pettiford's situation Saturday. Saying in a release: "We are aware of the situation, and we will handle it internally with Tahaad and his family. We take these matters seriously and will learn and grow from it moving forward."

The Tigers point guard was reportedly released from jail around noon ET and is no longer listed as an inmate in Lee County's jail log.

It's unclear right now what this will mean for his playing time when the college basketball season tips-off this winter.
