Boise State falls to Colorado in First Four, keeping dubious record alive

Wednesday's First Four matchup between Colorado and Boise State did not disappoint.

In what turned into a rock fight of a college basketball game, Colorado held on for a 60-53 victory against Boise State, moving on to the NCAA Tournament's Round of 64, where they'll take on Florida on Friday.

In a game where both teams shot below 45% from the field, Colorado nailed several free throws down the stretch to ice the game and send Boise State home.

The win is the first for Colorado in the NCAA Tournament since 2021, where they beat Georgetown in the Round of 64 before losing to Florida State in the Round of 32.

Despite being out-rebounded by 11, the Buffaloes shot 43.8% from the field compared to Boise State's 34.8% mark, while also shooting and making nine more free throws than Boise State.

In what turned out to be just an eight point game, those free throws made all the difference for a Colorado team that scrapped and clawed all night.

Things won't be easy against a Todd Golden led Florida squad that earned a No. 7 seed in the tournament. The Gators won six of their last nine games on the season, advancing all the way to the SEC Tournament championship game in Nashville before falling 86-67 to Auburn.

For Boise State, the loss means the Broncos uphold one of the most embarrassing records in sports as the team that has played in the most NCAA Tournament games without a win.

The Broncos are now 0-10 all time in the NCAA Tournament, dating back to their first appearance in 1976.

Colorado's Round of 64 matchup with Florida will tip off on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on TBS.
