It appears as though Chaz Lanier is going to have some company wearing orange in the locker room of his new basketball home.
Lanier was drafted by the Detroit Pistons with the 37th overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft on Thursday night in Brooklyn, New York.

While second round draft picks can sometimes be a wild card as far as making their team's roster, getting shipped overseas, getting demoted to the developmental G-league, or getting cut, one particular expert sees Lanier sticking with the Pistons from the start. ESPN Draft expert Jonathan Givony predicts Lanier to end up on Detroit's roster.
The Detroit Pistons have selected Chaz Lanier with the No. 37 pick. They will be rostering this pick.

One of the best shooters in this draft, with the ability to come off screens with deep range. Also has good physical tools at 6’5 with a 6’9 wingspan. pic.twitter.com/d2wG1eHU33
Lanier, who won the Jerry West award last season as the nation's top shooting guard, will not be the only Vol on the roster of the rising Detroit Pistons. VFL Tobias Harris is a starter for the Pistons.
Harris played for Tennessee in the 2010-11 season, averaging 15.3 ppg and 7.3 rpg. He was drafted by the Charlotte Bobcats with the 19th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and has put together a solid NBA career. He just wrapped up the first season of his second tenure with Detroit, averaging 13.7 ppg and 3.9 rpg last year. Detroit finished 6th in the Eastern Conference at 44-38, their best record since 2015-16 when they posted the same mark.
Now, Lanier gives the Pistons a high-quality shooter who can help Detroit's offense find another gear as they look to continue to rise up the ranks in the East. And he's got a fellow Vol alongside him. Not a bad situation to land in at all.
