Cincinnati's seventh transfer portal entry of the week dropped on Tuesday as star forward Dillon Mitchell plans to search for other options. 247Sports's Travis Branham reported the news with Mitchell leaving open a return to Cincinnati.
The 6-8, 205-pound forward transferred into Cincinnati from Texas last offseason and averaged 9.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game at UC. He started all 35 games this season and was Cincinnati's best all-around player throughout the whole campaign.
Mitchell's potential exit leaves Cincinnati with just two frontcourt players firmly in the fold: Redshirt freshman Tyler McKinley and Halvine Dzellat.

The Iowa State Cyclones lost a lot of production from their 2024-25 roster, including Curtis Jones and Keshon Gilbert, the two leading scorers. But, they will have an edge entering the season with the most returning minutes and points scored of any Big 12 team. A Big 3 of Tamin Lipsey, Joshua Jefferson and Milan Momcilovic gives head coach T.J. Otzelberger a great core to build around. The No. 16-ranked team in the country entering the campaign, the Cyclones will need other players to step up and produce to contend for championships. The team should have a chip on its shoulder, being ranked as low as the No. 6 team in the conference entering the season. But there are several players on the roster who can help elevate Iowa State to the next level that aren’t currently household names. Here are four role players who have the talent to make a major impact for the Cyclones during the 2025-26 campaign. PG Killyan Toure When Tamin Lipsey went down with an injury, it provided opportunities for other players to step up and play during the exhibition games. One of those players was freshman point guard Killyan Toure, who made the most of his chance. He drew rave reviews not only from Otzelberger but also from opposing head coach Chris Collins of the Northwestern Wildcats. The Frenchman possesses the perfect skill set to learn from Lipsey as a potential two-way terror. Toure looks to have sewn up the backup point guard role, and his development will be one to keep a close eye on during the season. He stuffed the stat sheet against Northwestern and looks comfortable in a lead-guard role. When he and Lipsey share the court, they will be one of the most terrifying defensive backcourts in the country. If that 3-point stroke continues developing, the two could be on the court a lot more together. C Eric Mulder Iowa State’s frontcourt rotation is going to look vastly different this season compared to last. Dishon Jackson transferred to the Pittsburgh Panthers. Brandton Chatfield exhausted his eligibility. Jefferson is expected to be deployed exclusively at the four. So, Otzelberger hit the transfer portal and came away with Blake Buchanan from the Virginia Cavaliers and Eric Mulder from Purdue Fort Wayne. Both could have landed on this list, but Mulder is being highlighted. One of the reasons is that people want to see if his efficiency translates from the Horizon League to the Big 12. Mulder was the most efficient offensive player in men’s college basketball in 2024-25, making 78.4% of his 2-point attempts. His motor and ability to create second-chance opportunities will be a key part of the frontcourt formula for Otzelberger. He doesn’t possess the size of Jackson or Chatfield, but has more above-the-rim game and athleticism to add a different look. SG/SF Nate Heise The most experienced player on the roster, entering his sixth year of college basketball, has some pressure on him to perform. Otzelberger has issued a challenge to him coming into the year, and it will be interesting to see if he can meet it. Heise is going to be counted on for his 3-and-D skill set. Opportunities to let it fly will be plentiful with defenses building their game plans around Lipsey, Jefferson and Momcilovic. He showed just how prolific he could be from long range down the stretch last season, and there is optimism that will continue. The coaching staff is looking for him to be more aggressive on both ends of the floor and set an example for his teammates. A potential captain, he could elevate this team to another level. SG Dominick Nelson The final transfer addition added to the roster this offseason was the WAC Player of the Year. Nelson was excellent with the Utah Valley Wolverines and is going to be counted on to play a prominent role this season. He showcased his elite ability to get downhill and attack the rim in the exhibition games. Nelson continually puts pressure on the opposing defense and is relentless, drawing fouls at an elite rate. It is impressive how much he succeeds given his shaky 3-point shooting ability. Opponents don’t have to worry about him as much knocking down jumpers, but that doesn’t stop him from getting to the free-throw line with regularity. There are shades of Gilbert to Nelson’s game, and he will be asked to fill a similar role as a source of offense. If his 3-point shooting percentage improves, he will become even more dangerous. The Las Vegas Raiders lost a tough game to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, but Pro Bowl pass-rusher Maxx Crosby is maintaining a positive attitude amid a difficult season. The Jaguars beat the Raiders 30-29 in a thrilling Week 9 overtime game at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev. The Raiders took the lead with just under 2 minutes remaining when star tight end Brock Bowers caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Geno Smith. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence then led a field goal drive to force OT. The two teams traded touchdowns in OT, with Jacksonville getting the ball first and scoring. Rather than kicking an extra point to tie the game with 16 seconds left in the extra period, Raiders head coach Pete Carroll went for a two-point conversion and the win. Smith’s pass to Tyler Lockett fell incomplete, sealing the win for Jacksonville. After the game, Crosby shared an uplifting message for fans via social media. “Raider Nation I Love Yall With Everything In My Heart Soul. Yall Deserve Better. Stay As One, It Will Change,” Crosby wrote on X. The Raiders fell to 2-6 with the loss. Their first season under Carroll has been a disappointment thus far, but Crosby wants everyone to know he is not discouraged. Crosby signed a three-year, $106.5 million contract extension with the Raiders back in March. He is one of the best defensive players in the NFL and has 5 sacks in 8 games this season. There has been some talk of Crosby being traded ahead of the Nov. 4 deadline, but that is highly unlikely to happen. Crosby has reportedly told the team he does not want to go anywhere, and his message following Sunday’s loss is consistent with that.
The Toronto Maple Leafs perhaps did not expect to start the season like this, with a record of 6-5-1, but it's a result of the offensive adjustments the team has been forced to make. Head coach Craig Berube lost star Mitch Marner to the Las Vegas Golden Knights in the summer, so he had to reorganize roles and defensive responsibilities, impacting players like winger William Nylander. Nylander, 29, who is entering his second year of an eight-season deal with a cap hit of $11.5M, said on Monday that he is ready to play again after suffering a lower-body injury. Nylander practiced in the right wing of the second line with prospect Easton Cowan and John Tavares, per TSN's Mark Masters. That is not only good news for the Maple Leafs' upcoming games, but also for the long term. Why William Nylander is so important in Craig Berube's system Since the departure of Marner, Nylander has absorbed more volume of creation, passes in the offensive zone, controlled zone entries and shooting threat from the half-walls. This is reflected in his numbers to date, as he boasts 15 points in nine games played. Berube has asked for more shot volume and quick decisions, which favors Nylander, who also generates a significant impact in five-on-five. His mix of controlled entries, patience in the low circles and reading of the weak side stretches rival defenses, which allows for creating routes for Tavares and Cowan. Furthermore, in the first power play unit, the threat of Nylander's one-timer forces the closure of pass lines towards the bumper and the backdoor, opening clean shots for Auston Matthews, another key player for Berube. The most probable scenario is that Nylander continues being a primary offensive engine and stabilizes the power play. If he maintains entry success and increases his shot rate, Toronto could compensate for the departure of Marner.
All eyes are on the Dallas Cowboys, set to play the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9 of the NFL season. As the Cowboys prepare for a matchup against the Cardinals on "Monday Night Football," Dallas announced some big news regarding the roster. On Monday, the Cowboys announced that they have activated center Cooper Beebe. Beebe entered the season as the starting center, serving as an anchor for the Cowboy's offense and quarterback Dak Prescott's right-hand man. He returned from injured reserve as is designated to return to the Dallas Cowboys after suffering an ankle and foot injury early in the season. Cooper BeeBe has been with then Dallas Cowboys since 2024. He was selected in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft and has since emerged as one of the Cowboy's top players. Beebe played college football for the Kansas State Wildcats from 2019 to 2023. He was a First-Team All-American in 2022 and a unanimous All-American in 2023 for the Wildcats. The Cowboys' center was also a Three-Time First-Team All-Big 12 player during his college days at Kansas State. Dak Prescott will now have his starting center back, who should give the Dallas Cowboys more security on the offensive line. The Cowboys have already proven to have one of the best offenses in the NFL and it just got better. Several other stars who have flourished this season include George Pickens, CeeDee Lamb and Javonte Williams. Pickens and Williams are playing in their first season with the Cowboys.
