'Craziest thing': Uber Eats delivery driver interrupts basketball game

A delivery dude has fired up the Internet and social media.

During the second half of Wednesday’s Loyola (Chicago)-Duquesne basketball game in Pittsburgh, play was briefly stopped when an Uber Eats delivery person wandered on the court looking for his customer.

Video from the ESPN broadcast went viral and spurred jokes and comments across social media.

The video showed the driver walking on the court as a Duquesne player was closely guarded by a Loyola defender. The unnamed delivery driver, armed with a McDonald’s order, was just a few inches from the players on the court when the ref tried to shoo him away and stopped play.

Duquesne coach Keith Dambrot told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette it was the “craziest thing he’s ever seen.”

Per the Post-Gazette: "Security guards ushered the man back up to the concourse level. The delivery person was then united with his customer and the pair walked from one corner of the stands to the other."

The whole incident was funny, but it left a host of questions.

Did the delivery dude buy a ticket?

Did the customer type in “basketball arena, row 13"?

Did the order include a Big Mac and fries?

A mid-week game between Duquesne and Loyola (Chicago) in the Atlantic 10 isn't going to draw a huge crowd. Duquesne averages about 2,100 fans a game despite its 14-7 record.

But one would think security or at least an usher would have stopped this man before he got to the court.
