WVU basketball head coach Darian DeVries gave an update on injuries for a pair of players on Tuesday, Jayden Stone and Eduardo Andre.

DeVries said Stone, who has not played yet this season, is still out.

“Stone is still day-to-day,” DeVries said. “He’s doing some things to try and get himself back right now. He’s progressing.”

Stone has been out since the preseason with an undisclosed injury.

Stone transferred in from Detroit Mercy this offseason after being one of the top scorers in the country in 2023-24. His 20.8 points per game not only led the Titans but also ranked 22nd in the nation.

He also led Detroit Mercy, which won only a single game, with 2.7 assists per game and 63 made three-pointers. Stone also pulled down 5.6 rebounds per game. He shot 42% from the field and 32% from three.

Andre missed the team’s final game in the Bahamas against Arizona with an undisclosed injury. DeVries said he’s progressing well and how he practices on Thursday will decide his status for Friday’s game against Georgetown.

“He’s going in that direction,” DeVries said. “We’ll see after today’s practice.”

Andre is the Mountaineers’ backup center. He is averaging 3.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 14 minutes per game this season.

Other than those two, DeVries said the rest of the team has been focused on rest after playing three overtime games in three days in the Bahamas.

“We needed to get our legs back a little bit because it was not just three games. It was three and change,” he said. “The guys feel good, I think they feel refreshed and ready to go.”

“I think three games in three days is hard for anybody, especially for a group that had to play a lot of guys a lot of minutes,” said senior Tucker DeVries, who played 110 minutes across those games. “These last couple of days when we got back were all about regrouping, getting healthy and preparing for Georgetown.”

WVU and Georgetown tip off in the Big 12-Big East Battle tomorrow at 7 p.m. inside the WVU Coliseum. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
