Former Wisconsin basketball star AJ Storr spent one year in Madison and enjoyed the best season of his career, averaging 16.8 points per game while adding 3.9 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. He parlayed that season into a big payday, entering the portal and transferring to Kansas.
Theoretically, Storr joined one of the top teams in the country. Entering the 2024-25 season, the Jayhawks were the No. 1 team in the AP Poll, earning 30 first-place votes ahead of Alabama (14 first-place votes). He was joining a star-studded roster that was headlined by Wisconsin basketball fan favorite, Hunter Dickinson (sarcasm).
The former Wisconsin star got off to a rocky start, not even breaking into the starting lineup. Storr played in 34 games for Kansas this season, but started just four.
The Jayhawks started well, winning their first seven games, including victories over Duke and Michigan State. But the season quickly took a turn, losing two straight games to Creighton and Missouri. After that, they were inconsistent. The Jayhawks finished just 21-13 with an 11-9 record in the Big 12.
They got into the NCAA Tournament as a 7-seed, but promptly lost in the first round to 10-seed Arkansas, led by John Calipari. Many Wisconsin fans took pleasure in the downfall of the 2024-25 Kansas Jayhawks.
Now, AJ Storr is in the portal looking for his fourth team in as many years.
The news is not shocking to Wisconsin fans or college basketball fans, for that matter. Affectionately coined a 'transfer merchant' on social media, Storr has a reputation for hopping from team to team. Since high school, he hasn't spent more than one season with any one team. Granted, the COVID pandemic was allegedly a reason behind that, but Storr will now be looking for his eighth team in eight years.
