Georgia Tech lands former four-star in transfer portal

Damon Stoudamire and the Georgia Tech basketball program just landed a major offensive weapon.

Kam Craft, a 6-foot-6 wing from Chicago, has committed to Georgia Tech, marking the Yellow Jackets’ first portal pickup of the offseason. The former four-star recruit brings proven scoring ability and elite shooting range—something the Jackets desperately need after key roster departures.

Craft averaged 13.6 points per game for Miami (OH) last season, connecting on 43% of his threes while taking 6.6 attempts per game. That level of shooting efficiency, especially from deep, immediately addresses one of Georgia Tech’s biggest weaknesses—perimeter scoring. Craft’s ability to stretch defenses will open up driving lanes for returning players like Jaeden Mustaf and give Baye Ndongo more room to operate in the paint.

Craft started all 34 games for the RedHawks in 2024, helping them to a 25-9 record and a MAC Tournament title game appearance. Though his path started at Xavier—where he played under Sean Miller—Craft found his stride under Travis Steele at Miami (OH). That experience, especially under multiple coaching systems, gives Stoudamire a player ready to adapt and contribute in the ACC.

Georgia Tech has seen key players leave the program this spring—point guard Nait George to Syracuse and forward Duncan Powell to Georgetown. Craft helps fill that void, not just with scoring but as a mature, multi-program player. His addition stabilizes a roster in flux and signals that Georgia Tech remains active in rebuilding its core for the 2025 season.

Craft’s commitment is a big win for Georgia Tech, and likely not the last move in a pivotal offseason. For a program trying to regain relevance in the ACC, adding a proven scorer like Kam Craft is a step in the right direction—and it’s just the beginning.
