Former Gonzaga forward Jun Seok Yeo became the third Zag to find a new landing spot via the transfer portal, announcing his commitment to Seattle University in a post on Thursday evening.
Yeo joins Dusty Stromer (Grand Canyon) and Michael Ajayi (Butler) as Gonzaga transfers who have committed, while walk-on Graydon Lemke remains unsigned. Ben Gregg entered the transfer portal as well, although he is out of eligibility and focusing on his professional career.
Yeo lands on the west side of the state at SeattleU, while remaining in the WCC with the Redhawks moving over to the conference officially starting July 1.
The 6'8 forward from South Korea initially came to Gonzaga halfway through the 2022-23 season after playing at the NBA Global Academy in Australia. He did not play for the Zags until the 2023-24 season.
Across two seasons with the Bulldogs, Yeo struggled to carve out a spot in the rotation - appearing in 39 games and averaging 2.1 points and 1.0 rebounds in 5.9 minutes per contest.
With one year of eligibility remaining, Yeo opted to pursue a landing spot where he could get more opportunity for playing time, which he should find on a SeattleU team that lost three of its four leading scorers from last season: Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe to the transfer portal and Kobe Williamson and Paris Dawson to graduation.
Yeo is SeattleU's first portal addition this offseason, and his size, rebounding, and ability to space the floor should get him on the floor right away for the Redhawks.
The WCC schedule has yet to be released, but there is a good chance Yeo will get two chances to face his old team during the 2025-26 season.
