After spending two seasons with the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels, guard Brooklyn Hicks hit the transfer portal and his headed to the Montana Grizzlies.
Hicks looks to make a bigger impact with the Grizzles. He brings his high-energy on both ends of the court.
Montana coach Travis DeCuire made the announcement in a press release this week.
DeCuire spoke about his expectations of Hicks and how he can best benefit the program at Montana.
“Brooklyn will be a great addition to our program. A lot of talent is walking out the door right now on both sides of the ball, and we think that Brooklyn will have a big impact in that regard for us as we continue to try to be a team that is very versatile offensively and defensively.”
Hicks was an important part of the Runnin’ Rebels bench last season. During his time with UNLV, Hicks averaged 3.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Over his two seasons he totaled 55 assists and 23 steals.
The Grizzlies are hoping that Hicks brings that intensity on both sides of the ball.
Coach DeCuire and his staff were mostly interested in Hicks’ smothering defense and offensive versatility.
Hicks makes the fifth player from the UNLV program to enter the transfer portal.
