Owen Freeman has been a star for the Iowa Hawkeyes' basketball program this season.
A sophomore forward from Moline, Illinois, Freeman has averaged 16.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists for the Hawkeyes in 19 games this season.
Unfortunately, Freeman is going to be missing for the rest of the season due to surgery on his finger. This was announced on Monday by head coach Fran McCaffery.
“After discussions with Owen, his family and our medical staff, surgery is the best course of treatment in terms of proper healing and rehabilitation,” McCaffery said in a statement. “We expect Owen to make a full recovery. He has the full support of his teammates and coaches during this entire process.”
HC Fran McCaffery announced today that Owen Freeman will miss the remainder of the season with a finger injury.

Here’s to a speedy recovery, 32! pic.twitter.com/xxXrrPSkpb
This is a tough blow for the 13-8 Hawkeyes. Not only is Freeman undoubtedly their star player, but he's also the only Iowa player who has scored in double-digits in every game this season.
McCaffery's crew is going to be missing a ton of production moving forward.
