CBS Sports analyst Jon Rothstein predicts a significant youth movement for Houston next season.
After speaking with sources close to the program, he believes two true freshmen, five-star forward Chris Cenac Jr. and five-star point guard Kingston Flemings, are projected to start in the 2025–26 lineup.
Rothstein flagged that Houston’s roster will feel “younger than usual” this fall.
Houston is going to significantly younger than normal this season.

That outlook carries implications because Rothstein also suggested Flemings could start at point guard, which raises a red flag. Senior Milos Uzan, who withdrew from the NBA draft in late May and returned for his senior year, remains Houston’s proven floor general.
Uzan averaged 11.4 points and 4.3 assists per game last season and earned second-team All‑Big 12 honors. His return preserves a key veteran presence.
Rothstein’s projection reflects just how deep Houston’s incoming class is. Adding Cenac and Flemings to a veteran core that includes Emanuel Sharp and Joseph Tugler offers Houston depth beyond its usual rotation. Players like Sharp and Tugler anchor both ends of the floor and bridge the gap between returning experience and freshman talent.
Early word from Summer Camp Sampson confirms freshmen are earning attention with maturity and readiness. Still, Rothstein’s suggestion about Flemings over Uzan may be more theoretical than realistic.
Given coach Kelvin Sampson’s reliance on upperclassmen and Uzan’s leadership track record, it’s far more likely Flemings earns bench minutes early rather than supplanting the senior.
What Rothstein captures is Houston’s evolving identity: built on experience, now layering in elite youth. The team is still regarded as a national title contender, but it now features a roster with far greater uncertainty. Watching how Sampson blends veterans and stars-in-waiting will define the Cougars’ story in 2026.
