As Kentucky battles through the heart of SEC competition, injuries continue to play a significant role in shaping the Wildcats’ season. Head coach Mark Pope’s squad is still without guard Kerr Kriisa, who has been sidelined since the matchup against Gonzaga. Meanwhile, Jaxson Robinson is now also out due to a wrist injury, further thinning Kentucky’s depth.

Robinson has been a major contributor for the Wildcats this season, averaging 13.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. His absence is especially significant, given his ability to stretch the floor and provide an offensive spark. The fifth-year forward showcased his scoring prowess with a standout performance against Tennessee earlier this season, dropping 17 points, grabbing four rebounds, and dishing out an assist in a crucial win over the Volunteers. Without Robinson, Kentucky will need others to step up offensively to fill the void.

On a more positive note, Lamont Butler is listed as probable for Kentucky’s upcoming matchup. Butler made his return in the Wildcats’ recent 80-57 victory over South Carolina after missing three consecutive games. In his first game back, Butler contributed eight points on 2-for-5 shooting, while also tallying three assists, one steal, and a rebound in 23 minutes of action. His presence was a welcome sight for Kentucky, as his playmaking and defensive intensity beings another dimension to the team.

Another player who will see significant playing time is forward Andrew Carr. When Kentucky previously faced Tennessee, Carr played only two minutes as he was still recovering from a back injury that has bothered him since Kentucky's game against Brown at the end of December.

Despite these injury setbacks, Kentucky must find a way to stay competitive in a tough SEC slate. The Wildcats will rely heavily on Koby Brea, Carr, Amari Williams, and other key players to carry the scoring load while Robinson remains sidelined. With Kriisa still out and no clear timetable for his return, Kentucky’s backcourt rotation remains in flux.

The Wildcats have little time to dwell on their injury concerns, as they prepare for a difficult slate of games. Whether or not Butler is at full strength and how Kentucky manages without Robinson and Kriisa will be key factors in determining how the team finishes the regular season. If Kentucky hopes to make a deep run in March, they’ll need to get healthy—and fast.

Throughout it all, Mark Pope has emphasized the importance of getting his team healthy as they push toward postseason play.
