The Jazz have signed Mohamed Wague, the team announced in a press release.
A Bronx native who started his college career playing juco ball in Pennsylvania, Wague had relatively modest roles with West Virginia, Alabama and Oklahoma from 2022-25. However, the 6’10” forward/center was a full-time starter for the Sooners as a senior last season, averaging 6.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 22.4 minutes per game.
Wague went undrafted in June, making him an unrestricted free agent.
While the terms of the agreement were not disclosed, Wague almost certainly signed a non-guaranteed contract featuring Exhibit 10 language. If Wague is waived before the season begins, he’ll become eligible for a bonus worth up to $91K if he spends at least 60 days with the Salt Lake City Stars, the Jazz’s G League affiliate.
Utah had an opening on its 21-man preseason roster, so no corresponding move was necessary to sign Wague.
