The Kansas Jayhawks will be without their top two players for the 2024 Big 12 tournament that will kick off this Tuesday. Kansas head coach Bill Self said that both Hunter Dickinson and Kevin McCullar will not see action in the tourney.

Kansas Jayhawks To Play Without Hunter Dickinson, Kevin McCullar In 2024 Big 12 Tournament

Via Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports:

Bill Self said tonight on Lawrence radio that both Hunter Dickinson (shoulder) and Kevin McCullar (knee) will miss this week’s Big 12 Tournament.  A significant development for this week in Kansas City.

Dickinson suffered a shoulder dislocation in last Saturday’s 76-46 road loss to the Houston Cougars. Before he left that contest, he scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds to go with two assists in 23 minutes. Despite the announcement that he will not take part in the conference tournament, the expectation is that Dickinson will be ready for the Big Dance.

So far this season , Dickinson, a graduate transfer from the Michigan Wolverines, is second on the team with 18.0 points per game to go with averages of 10.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.

Dickinson’s absence will make it tougher for the Kansas Jayhawks to capture the conference tournament’s title. The last time Kansas won it was in 2022 before falling short in the title game in 2023 against the Texas Longhorns.

McCullar, on the other hand, has missed all of Kansas’ last five games due to a knee issue. He is Kansas’ leading scorer this season with 18.3 points per outing.

Seeded sixth in the Big 12 tourney, Kansas will enjoy a first-round bye before taking on the winner of Tuesday’s game between the Cincinnati Bearcats and the West Virginia Mountaineers on Wednesday.
