Kansas Jayhawks star Hunter Dickinson faces an uncertain future beyond this college basketball season with the big man potentially looking ahead to the NBA draft. Dickinson has been one of the top college basketball players during his career at both Kansas and Michigan Wolverines.
Yet, Dickinson is absent from the majority of NBA mock drafts with the Jayhawks star unable to sniff the second round in experts' projections. ESPN's Jonathan Givony has Dickinson ranked outside his top 100 players.
Dickinson likely needs an impressive March Madness run to have NBA teams rethink his draft stock. Yet, Dickinson has already played five college basketball seasons.
It is difficult to imagine another few weeks could make a massive impact on Dickinson's scouting report. Heading into the NCAA Tournament, Dickinson averaged 17.6 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal per game in 33 starts during the 2024-25 season.

Questions remain about Dickinson's size and athleticism heading into the NBA. Dickinson is also shooting a disappointing 27.8% from behind the 3-point arc, his worst season from long range since his freshman year at Michigan in 2020-21.
Dickinson has drawn some comparisons to former Purdue Boilermakers standout Zach Edey, who also faced questions about his NBA outlook. Yet, the Memphis Grizzlies center is an elite shot blocker and better scorer than Dickinson.
"Some team with a need at backup center might take Dickinson late in the second round," Sporting News' Stephen Noh wrote on Thursday. "More likely, he will go undrafted.
"... He certainly has NBA size, and his skill level makes him an intriguing fit in the right places. He didn't have great shooting around him at Kansas, so he could potentially be more effective as a bucket-getter off the bench with better teammates that could punish the double-teams that were thrown at him in college."
