Kelvin Sampson went nuts in locker room celebrating Houston's Sweet 16 berth
Houston Cougars head coach Kelvin Sampson Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Kelvin Sampson unleashed his inner party animal after clinching a berth in the Sweet 16 this weekend.

Sampson’s Houston Cougars defeated Illinois on Sunday in their Round of 32 game. It was Houston’s third straight Sweet 16 berth, having made the Final Four last year and another Sweet 16 two years before that (there was no NCAA Tournament in 2020).

After Sunday’s win, the 66-year-old Sampson went wild in the locker room. He took off his shirt and danced as the entire team doused him with water.

Sampson is in his eighth season as Houston’s coach and has a record of 198-69 (.742) with them. The Cougars have proven that they would run through a wall for Sampson, and his willingness to dance shirtless with them after a big victory is part of why they love him so much.
