LSU's Alexis Morris humbles Iowa's Caitlin Clark after title game

After capturing the program's first National Championship on Sunday, LSU senior Alexis Morris served Iowa star Caitlin Clark a piece of humble pie.

"Caitlin, you had an amazing game. You're a great player. But you got to put respect on LSU," Morris said. "You got to put respect on my name."

Morris' comments stem from Clark's behavior in the Final Four against No. 1 South Carolina. Clark came under fire after waving off several Gamecock players during the game due to her complete lack of respect for their jump shots.

Ahead of Sunday's National Championship Game, Morris said she was taking Clark's display to heart.

"I don't think they can guard us that way," Morris said via ESPN's Andrea Adelson. "I don't think you can just leave me open on the perimeter or leave us open on the perimeter. Me personally, I find it very disrespectful, so I'm going to take that personally going into the game. You're going to have to guard us."

Morris backed up her words in a big way on Sunday, pacing the Tigers' effort in the second half. She was crucial down the stretch in a game where LSU needed practically everyone to pull their weight.

The senior proved to be nearly unstoppable when it mattered most in the fourth quarter, scoring 15 of her 21 points in the final stanza while going 6-of-6 from the field with zero turnovers.
