Cooper Flagg is regarded as potentially the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

The Dallas Mavericks earned the rights to the No. 1 pick in the draft lottery and look to take the former Duke University standout on opening night, which is June 25. Nico Harrison, general manager and president of basketball operation, looks to show everyone he made the right move in Dallas by trading Luka Doncic. Flagg, a 6’9″ and 225 pound guard/forward prospect, dominated the collegiate game in one season at Duke. He won several individual accolades — including National College Player of the Year — while propelling the Blue Devils to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament. Flagg, a former five-star, excels as a passer, scorer, and defender — averaging 19.2 points, 4.2 assists, 7.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game in his freshman campaign. He shot 48.1 percent from the field and 38.5% from three-point range this year at Duke.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Dallas plans to have a private meeting with Flagg on June 17.

The Mavs believe they have something special with him, so they want to meet him before the draft.
