Former Miami guard Jalil Bethea committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide out of the transfer portal on Monday, according to Joe Tipton of On3.
Bethea reportedly chose Alabama over Kansas State, NC State, and a return to Miami to play under new head coach Jai Lucas, who took over just two weeks prior to the portal opening.
Lucas also saw guard Nijel Pack enter the portal, but moved quickly to add Michigan guard and Miami native Tre Donaldson out of the portal, as well as forward Malik Reneau from Indiana and center Ernest Udeh from TCU.

Bethea considered Alabama out of high school, as well as Syracuse, Kansas, and Villanova, before ultimately committing to the 'Canes under then head coach Jim Larranaga.
However, Bethea never quite found his footing under coach L or associate head coach Bill Courtney, who took over when Larranaga retired in late December.
The high scoring All-American guard averaged just 7.1 points per game with poor efficiency, including 36.8% from the field and 32.6% from three.
He had big moments, like 21 points against Syracuse, and that combined with his high school pedigree and connection with the Crimson Tide staff will land him on an SEC team that flirted with a No. 1 seed all year long before earning a two seed and making the Elite Eight before falling to Duke.
For 'Bama, they take a chance that a kid who struggled on a bad team that had a midseason coaching change to see if he can become a high scoring, great shooter which fits perfectly in coach Oats system.
With Mark Sears out the door and Labaron Philon likely leaving as well, there's a real opportunity for Bethea if he can find it in Tuscaloosa.
