Missouri is set to add Griffin McHone to its men’s basketball staff as the new Director of Basketball Operations (DOBO), according to a report Saturday afternoon by Eli Hoff of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

An official announcement on McHone’s hiring could come as soon as Monday.

McHone spent last season as an assistant coach at South Florida after serving the year prior as the Bulls’ Director of Player Development. Before that, he was the Director of Operations at Kennesaw State and began his career as a graduate manager at his alma mater, Texas A&M

During his time at both South Florida and Kennesaw State, McHone had the opportunity to work under the late Amir Abdur-Rahim, a well-respected coach who passed away last October.

The role opened after Dalon King, who spent three seasons with Missouri, including one as DOBO, left to join former Tigers assistant Rob Summers at Cleveland State. Summers was recently named head coach, and King is set to serve on his staff as an assistant.

McHone is the latest addition to Mizzou’s reshaped coaching staff. Head coach Dennis Gates recently hired former Duquesne assistant Steve Wright and moved Dickey Nutt back into an on-court role after serving last season as a senior advisor during his cancer treatment.

Missouri lost two key assistants this offseason, including Rob Summers and Charlton “C.Y.” Young, who took jobs at Cleveland State and Miami, respectively.

The Tigers also saw assistant DOBO, Nick Korta, depart for Virginia Military Institute, where he’ll serve as an assistant coach.

With McHone’s addition, the changes to the staff appear to be nearly complete. Gates noted that a final piece will be hiring the program's first general manager, which he expects to happen soon.
