The Ohio State Buckeyes have been attempting to climb the college basketball ladder, having already cemented themselves as a powerhouse in the college football scene.
Last season, the Buckeyes' athletic program earned a national title from the college football team, with Ohio State defeating Notre Dame in the national title game.
The basketball team, on the other hand, led by head coach Jake Diebler, had a disappointing year, posting a 17-15 record.
During the offseason, the Buckeyes added salt the wound, losing one of the best projects in the country who committed to play for Ohio State next season.
According to Joe Tipton, blue-chip prospect Dorian Jones has requested his release from Ohio State, looking to reopen his recruitment before his freshman college basketball season.
Despite Jones being the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Ohio, choosing to play for his home team at the beginning of the recruiting process, he's had a change of heart.

Dorian Jones is ranked as the No. 19 shooting guard and the No. 114 overall player in the country, rated as a four-star recruit, per 247Sports.
Before committing to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Jones received interest from several other top college basketball programs, including Michigan, Rutgers, Arizona State, Missouri and Syracuse.
Ohio State head coach will now have to move onto the next season without the team's top in-state recruit.
Diebler took over the program during the 2023-24 season, serving as the interim head coach for Chris Holtmann. Last season was his first year as the team's official head coach, having led the team to a 9-11 conference record.
