Class of 2026 Top-30 recruit Latrell Allmond has narrowed his recruitment down to five schools, and one Big 12 program is still firmly in the mix. The 6-foot-8 power forward announced that his finalists are Indiana, Virginia, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, and Maryland, with his college decision set for next Monday, October 13th.

For Oklahoma State, this is another sign that the Cowboys remain a serious player on the national recruiting trail despite recent changes within the program. Allmond, an elite four-star prospect, has drawn widespread attention for his blend of length, strength, and athleticism. He’s a classic modern forward that’s big enough to play inside, mobile enough to defend multiple positions, and skilled enough to stretch the floor offensively.

According to 247Sports, Allmond ranks among the top 30 overall prospects in the 2026 class and is considered one of the premier frontcourt players on the East Coast. His ability to impact the game as both a rebounder and rim protector has made him a coveted target for several Power Four programs.

For Oklahoma State, landing Allmond would be a massive statement as the Cowboys continue to rebuild under new leadership. The Pokes have placed a strong emphasis on re-establishing recruiting momentum in the Steve Lutz era, and being in the final five for a player of Allmond’s caliber is a sign that the staff is making real progress.

Allmond’s game projects perfectly into the Big 12 style of play. His motor and physicality fit the league’s reputation for toughness, while his growing perimeter skill set gives him the versatility that modern Big 12 coaches crave. Oklahoma State has had a long history of developing athletic forwards who can guard across multiple positions, and Allmond’s profile mirrors that tradition.

While programs like Indiana and Virginia bring strong basketball legacies and Tennessee has become a consistent national presence under Rick Barnes, Oklahoma State’s opportunity lies in offering immediate impact potential. The Cowboys’ frontcourt rotation could open up significant playing time by 2026, giving Allmond a real chance to make his mark early in Stillwater.

With his decision date approaching, Allmond’s recruitment is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing storylines in the 2026 class. For now, Oklahoma State remains in the fight, and if the Cowboys can pull this one off, it would mark a major recruiting victory and a clear sign that the program’s future remains bright in the Big 12.
