As Penn State (+11.5) prepares to take on No. 12 Michigan State (-11.5) on the road, the Nittany Lions could be without lead guard Ace Baldwin Jr., per the Big Ten Availability Report. Freshman Hudson Ward was listed as out.

Baldwin — averaging a team-high 13.9 points and 8.0 assists — missed Sunday’s game against No. 15 Oregon. He exited PSU’s game against No. 13 Illinois on Jan. 8 in the first half after he was visibly bothered following an offensive foul by the Illini’s Kylan Boswell.

Penn State lost its third straight game to Oregon without Baldwin in the lineup. The Ducks ended the game on a 23-13 run after the Nittany Lions led by as many as nine with 6:34 remaining. In Ace’s absence, Nick Kern Jr. (19 points, eight rebounds and four assists) and Freddie Dilione V (career-high 21 points) took over the playmaking reigns, but Penn State lost the bench battle 28-4.

Following the loss, Mike Rhoades was asked if he had an update about Ace Baldwin and Rhoades said the fifth-year guard was “day-to-day.”

Tipoff for Penn State-Michigan State is at 7:30 p.m. from the Breslin Center.
